WaveLab is planned as a developer portal for Google Wave developers. As we are just ramping up or development effort, we’ve just plugged in this blog as a kind of placeholder site. When development is complete, this will be a hub for developers focused on creating extensions for the Google Wave platform.
Ultimately, this site will include a collection of all known extensions for Google Wave along with tools, resources and a community to facilitate the development of more extensions.
What makes WaveLab different from the inevitable other Google Wave developer portals? One key element will be its relationship to WaveCenter, a planned next-generation social network based on the Google Wave platform. WaveLab will serve as the back-end development system for extensions for the WaveCenter portal, while WaveCenter will serve as an “idea bank” that will drive development at WaveLab. We believe this symbiotic relationship will result in a social network that is light years ahead of anything currently available and that can evolve to meet the needs of its users very rapidly.
If you are interested in riding the Google Wave then we encourage you to sign up for the WaveLab.com mailing list. We’ll be making some announcements very soon.
